Aquarius is the Water-Bearer, so thats the association to water. Water signs are typically more about their emotions, and if you've ever met an aquarius, you've probably realized they aren't the emotional type. Instead Aquas are Thinkers, analyzing and refining lifes experiences with their sharp intellect. This is more in holding with the element of Air.

thank you for the clarification! and i have met an Aquarius because i am one! and this seems to be pretty true. so, i guess that does make sense.
